The lovely Neil Pringle, presenter and all round good-egg, has featured us many times on his mid-morning show. The first time was on 10th May 2001 when he played his interview with Sir Harry Secombe and as a result I sent him a merry email  letting him know all about us. (Actually this was probably the last ever interview given by Harry before his death so Neil should feel very proud to have done it.)

Since then Neil has told the listening populace about our Christmas Dinner, complete with a visit from Santa, on the 25th - of June - no less.

On the day of the Radio 2` 50th Anniversary tribute to the Goon Show, I once again emailed Neil and he kindly spent the rest of his show reminiscing about the Goons and inviting comments & phone-ins from any listeners' with fond memories of the original broadcasts.

He had previously (March 2003) interviewed me personally about the Telegoons which was a 1960's  TV version of the goon show using animatronic puppets. The reason being that we (the GSPS) are trying to locate some of the missing puppets from that time. We have found Neddie Seagoon, albeit in a bad state of repair and are trying to find any of the others.
(
If any of you have any information about this I would appreciate hearing from you)

To see Neil in the flesh go to www.bbc.co.uk/southerncounties and look for studio cam.

By the way, I've removed the LINKS page, some of the sites listed weren't up to scratch and their owners don't seem to be that bothered either, so I thought, well, why should I keep trying then. The only site you might still visit that's any good is the Telegoons one, it's a fun place to go, but please come back here when you've finished.
If you're interested in joining us for any of our Day's Out then email me and I'll send you the details.

[Report of the GSPS on the BBC Southern Counties Radio]

On the morning of Tuesday 29th May, I cheekily emailed my local BBC Southern Counties Radio with the news about the 50th Anniversary Goon Show Evening due to be broadcast that night on Radio 2.

To my delight the presenter, Neil Pringle, immediately read it out and invited people to phone-in with their recollections of the Goons. I have transcribed some snippets here today from the recording I made, as it happened, during the four hour programme.

"Bill from Seaford" - actually attended original recordings at the Paris Cinema back in the 50's and is a member of the Goon Show Preservation Society.

"Ken from Horsham" - is ex-RAF and while stationed in Lincolnshire listened enthralled, sitting drinking tea in the NAAFI on a Sunday evening to the closed-circuit Forces transcription service.

"John from Worthing" - during 1949 worked in a hotel on Jersey, where a young unknown comic was appearing , Spike Milligan, billed as ' The Zany Comedian' - and spent many a happy hour chatting after the shows.

"Brian from Carshalton" - has got some original EP's of the Goons' songs which he treasures.
