UPDATE *  Our latest outing was 25th June in Littlehampton to see The Bridge-to-Nowhere, and previously April 1st we went to Tenterden again. See next page jump link below.

We have for a few years now, been participating in "Days Out" across this county of ours.  They take the form of walks, train journeys, car or bicycle rides (well they would if I had a bike…) and they are always to Places as seen in our goings-on pages. So -  we have done batter-pudding hurling (albeit on the beach at the Bournemouth Goonvention) with real-life cold batter-puddings. And, we have done Phantom Head Shaving, this time actually in  the right place, at the Brighton Goonvention.

We have travelled by train to
Normans Bay Halt (which isn't   -  a halt that is) and eaten a picnic on the beach at Pevensey Bay in the middle of February (mid-winters day no less)  where, in order to keep warm we took along our own thermometer with the temperature on it in the high 80's, (see below) and we are planning (hopefully) a Hastings Flyer Weekend.

Our next organised - if you can call them that - outing was sub-titled
"The Quest for Upper Dicker". A fun filled day-out full of jolly goon type japes. Along the way we also visited Robin's Post and then finished off at a Tea Room in Nearby Hailsham. You may have seen on the home page, announcements pertaining to April 1st, "All Goon's Day" and some of the outings associated with that. The first was a visit to Bodiam Castle, the next we went to Guildford, and last year Bexhill.
When I get the chance I will add more pages to show more of these trips.

The national GSPS Newsletter no: 95 January 1999 carried the following advert on page 12 - to whit - "The Sussex Branch cordially invites anyone (they're keen…) to join them on their Summers Day outing to Norman's Bay Beach, English Channel, on Saturday 20th February from 11am. You can reach the beach much quicker and more prettily by the Electric Train which leaves Lewes station at 10:09am and arrives at Norman's Bay at 10:52am. Main attractions are to Join Eccles sun-bathing, the Star Inn, and so on. Bring own deck-chair and sun-hat...

This is it - Normans Bay railway station, looking up from the beach - the gateway to England. All William the Conk had to do was buy a few hundred tickets for London Bridge and the country was his. Not even a  barrier to get in his way...
